Dear Friends,

Much has happened in the last month, the best of all was the celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary. My wife, Myra, is a gift from God beyond words. The other noteworthy events, from good to bad, is that I had a very fruitful trip to Ukraine and we experienced our first earthquake in Manila the 1st of March.  It was only a 5.7, but on the 11th floor it was an interesting rock back and forth for a few seconds.  It is common for ministers to form messages from life experiences, and God gave me two messages in the midst of it all: be ready and build well.

I went from the land of perpetual summer to a winter wonderland this month while traveling to Poland and Ukraine.  Our Eastern European Leadership Conference in Krakow, Poland gets better every year, and this year we saw around 150 leaders from Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Latvia and Estonia come to be equipped for more effective ministry. I was very glad to see that the Ukrainians had the biggest group this year with about 60 in attendance. They are eager to learn and advance God’s kingdom.  The wife of one of our Ukrainian leaders, Julia, whom we have been praying for over the years was saved at the conference.

After the conference in Krakow I hopped on the bus with the Ukrainians to head back to Lviv for a week of ministry. Pastor Doug Watson and I prayed to set in Igor Ivanishin as the new senior pastor and to bless Valentine & Katya Hal as they prepare to join us in Manila where they will attend our School of World Missions this year.

While in Lviv, I met with key leaders to encourage them in their ministries and also taught on how to develop friendships with unbelievers that eventually become evangelistic. This is the promise of Jesus in Matthew 4:19 as He tells us to “… follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” These leaders are very enthusiastic in their desire to reach lost people, and I know that we will hear good reports from them this year.

I also visited Pastor Oleg Savchak in nearby Ternopil for a time of fellowship and leadership training. Pastor Oleg just returned from a trip to India where he ministered to the friends and family of a young Indian student whom they had led to the Lord while he studied in Ternopil. It is no small matter that these Ukrainian leaders are developing a heart for the nations, and it took them a lot of faith to make this trip.

In closing, I was in a prayer meeting in Manila last month where we were focusing on prayer for missions, and God put this verse on my heart.

And they sang a new song, saying,“Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; For You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” Rev 5:9

We have so much left to do in order to win for Jesus the glory due His suffering. Please join us in prayer as we seek to fulfill God’s will to finish the Great Commission. May God greatly bless you.
